App Name: Internet Speed Meter & Ping

Last Updated: October 15, 2026

1. Overview

Internet Speed Meter & Ping is a network utility that displays transfer speed, latency, data usage, per-app traffic, and devices on your local network.

We do not operate app accounts, advertising networks, analytics trackers, or a developer-run server for receiving your traffic history. The App processes network statistics on your device. Network diagnostic features connect to external providers and local devices as described below.

2. Information Handled by the App

A. Network and traffic statistics

The App reads Android network counters and usage statistics to display Wi-Fi and mobile data consumption. It can display connection type, signal strength, local IP address, and Wi-Fi network name where Android makes them available. Usage history, settings, data-plan configuration, and successful speed-test results are stored in the App's private storage.

The App does not intercept the content of other apps' network traffic, browsing history, passwords, or messages.

B. Installed apps and per-app data usage

When you grant Usage Access in Android settings, the App reads per-app network statistics. It accesses installed-app metadata, including package names, app names, icons, and Android user IDs, to label traffic statistics. On Android 11 and later, package visibility is limited to launchable apps and packages Android makes visible automatically. Traffic entries whose app metadata is unavailable may display a generic label or user ID. This information is processed on your device and is not uploaded to the developer or sent to the diagnostic providers. You can revoke Usage Access in Android settings.

C. Ping and latency measurements

Status-bar monitoring and user-initiated latency tests connect to the selected public endpoints, including Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, Quad9, or OpenDNS. These tests use TCP connections or ICMP requests to measure connection response times. They do not send your traffic history, installed-app list, or personal files.

The receiving provider necessarily sees the source public IP address and connection metadata. Its handling of those requests is governed by its own policies.

D. Speed tests

When you start a speed test, the App makes HTTPS requests to speed.cloudflare.com, downloads test data, and uploads generated test bytes. The uploaded payload is synthetic data, not your files or the contents of traffic from other apps. Cloudflare receives your public IP address and request metadata as part of these connections. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Speed tests consume network data and can use a substantial amount on fast connections. Your mobile operator's normal data charges may apply. Completed test results are saved on your device; unsuccessful or cancelled tests are not saved as successful results.

E. Local network device discovery

When you request a local network scan, the App probes addresses and ports on the connected local network and uses local DNS, mDNS, NetBIOS, and HTTP requests to identify devices. Results may include local IP addresses, MAC addresses where available, device or host names, vendor labels, open ports, and response times. Results are processed for display on your device and are not uploaded to the developer.

The scan reads identification responses from local devices, such as a device's web-page title. This is separate from intercepting other apps' browsing activity. Scan only networks you own or are authorized to inspect.

3. Permissions and Their Purposes

The current App uses the following Android permissions. Some features also require you to grant special access through Android settings.

PermissionPurpose
POST_NOTIFICATIONSDisplays the speed and latency notifications on Android 13 and later.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNCSupports background network monitoring while you use other apps.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATEReads connection type, Wi-Fi information, and signal strength where available.
INTERNETConnects to diagnostic endpoints for latency and speed tests, and to local network devices during scans.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage Access)Reads per-app network usage after you grant Usage Access in Android settings.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDRestarts monitoring after reboot when Start on Boot and monitoring are enabled.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOWDisplays the optional floating monitor after you grant overlay access and enable it.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONSAllows requesting an optional battery-optimization exemption to support continued background monitoring.

4. Third-Party Services and Support

The App contains no advertising or analytics SDKs. Network diagnostic providers receive the connection information described in section 2. We do not sell your usage records or installed-app information.

If you choose to share a result using Android's share menu, the content you select is sent to the recipient or app you choose and is subject to that app's policies.

If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use that correspondence to respond to your request and troubleshoot the reported issue. Do not send passwords or other information unnecessary for support.

5. Storage, Backup, Retention, and Deletion

Settings, usage history, data-plan configuration, and speed-test history are stored in Android's private app storage. Android app backup is enabled in the current version. Depending on your device, Android version, and system settings, app data may be included in your system backup or transferred to another device. The backup provider controls its backup storage and deletion. We do not receive or operate these system backups.

Local records are retained until removed through the available history controls, clearing the App's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the App. Clearing traffic history and speed-test history are separate actions; clearing traffic history may keep the current day's active counters. Uninstalling removes local app data, but does not necessarily remove system backups or support correspondence. A system restore may restore previously backed-up app data.

You can stop monitoring and disable optional features in the App, and revoke Usage Access, overlay access, notifications, and battery exemptions through Android settings. For questions about support correspondence or deletion of information sent to us, email the contact below.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through support, contact us so we can address the request.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the App's features or information handling change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised Last Updated date.
